Die Stiftungsurkunden und Testamente des 16. und frühen 17. Jahrhunderts bieten einen bedeutenden Einblick in die Rezeption der reformatorischen Veränderungen und das erstarkende Selbstbewusstsein der Bürgerinnen und Bürger im Sinne des »Priestertums aller Getauften«. Anhand dieses Quellenmaterials setzt sich die vorliegende Studie mit der Transformation des Stiftungswesens unter Berücksichtigung der Vielfalt der Reformation auseinander. Ein besonderes Augenmerk gilt dabei den religiösen Argumentationsmustern und der Frage, inwiefern sich Stiftungen als Gaben verstehen lassen.[Foundations and Reformation.
